Cheating on Pottermore

Most of you will probably have seen the accusations flying around in your common rooms, in the Great Hall and even at the end of chapters by now.

Users on Pottermore are employing techniques to win points which they have not rightfully earned. Although Hufflepuff's SnitchSpirit168, who is currently (unsurprisingly) top of the leader board is an obvious example, there are many people in every house that have been cheating; some in a much less obvious manner.

SnitchSpirit168 has publicly announced that they are using a bot to get all of the points from dueling. A bot is a program that is made to repeatedly complete a task, in this case it has been programmed to duel continuously against other users and has overcome the anti-bot guards put in place on Pottermore by logging out and back in again when asked to type in the words shown.

Other users have been making accounts in different houses and purposefully losing duels in order to give their preferred house the points. I'm sure there are plenty of other methods of cheating being utilized and if you want to read a little more in depth about the subject, I suggest you have a read of ElmBlade43's expertly written blog post.

I, along with many other Pottermore users, do not agree with any methods of cheating.
Pottermore is a game, and as ElmBlade43 says, games are supposed to be fun, and it's not fun when you know users are cheating and gaining hundreds of thousands of points which they have not worked for. Cheating on a game in which users are competing is, to me, very much like stealing.
